Tajpur is a beach located approximately 172 kilometers from Kolkata. The vast beach, the expanse of water, the serene environment, and the enchanting breeze are gradually making Tajpur popular.

Despite being a beach, Tajpur is also famous for fish farming, which is carried out over an area of about 1400 acres.

There is a possibility of a seaport being developed here. Though Tajpur has only recently emerged as a new tourist destination, the roaring waves of the sea, the tranquility, and the casuarina groves make Tajpur ideal for those who wish to escape the hustle and bustle of city life for a couple of days. Many red crabs can be seen scattered around the area. Due to the low number of tourists, the beach remains peaceful, secluded, and clean.

Wooden restaurants can be found along the seashore, where you can enjoy the view of the waves while savoring fried fish and other delicacies.

How to Get There ?
From Kolkata, you need to take a bus heading towards Digha and get off at Balisai. From there, you can reach Tajpur by auto or toto, costing around 100 rupees if reserved.

If traveling by train, the nearest station is Ramnagar. From Ramnagar, you can also take an auto or toto to Tajpur, which may cost between 200 to 250 rupees.

Where to Stay ?
Tajpur has numerous hotels, most of which have been recently established. Hotel rates start from around 1000 rupees.
What to See ?
The main attraction in Tajpur is the beach. You can see numerous red crabs scurrying around on the beach, enjoy a swim, and savor fried fish at the wooden restaurants by the shore. After exploring Tajpur, you can rent a car to visit nearby places like Shankarpur, Mandarmani, or Digha. The rental cost for this would be approximately 600 rupees.

Best Time to Visit ?
Tajpur is ideal for a visit year-round, but it’s best to avoid cyclone season.
Enjoying the beach is the primary activity for tourists in Tajpur. The place is mainly known for shrimp farming. On your way, you’ll see many shrimp ponds, and shrimp farming is the main livelihood of the local people.
