Places to Visit in and at Ghatshila
1. Burudi Lake: The main attraction of Gahtshila , Located about 8 km from Ghatshila station , Burudi Lake is a serene spot for boating, and photography,surrounded by lush greenery and hills .The lake have crystal-clear waters reflecting the beauty of the surrounding forests and hills . Boating is an another attraction of Burudi Lake.
2. Galudih: It is also attract tourist for its scenic beauty and the Subarnarekha River, Galudih is a peaceful village near Ghatshila. Galudih Dam is about 20 km from Ghatshila situated on the Subarnarekha River, this dam was built for irrigation and flood control, but it has also become a popular spot for nature lovers, photographers.
3. Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay's Home : Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay, one of Bengal's most celebrated literary writer, is best known for his novel “Pather Panchali”. Other novel are "Aparajito","Aranyak","Chander Pahar" (Mountain of the Moon),"Ichhamati","Debjan","Hiraman Torongo","Ashani Sanket". Bibhutibhushan's residence in Ghatshila is located near the Subarnarekha River, it stands as a testimony to his love towards forests, rivers, and hills .The name of the house is Gouri Kunj (Gourikunj) in Ghatshila and is about 2 km from Ghatshila Station.
4. Dharagiri Falls : It is about 10 km from Ghatshila Station, it is a natural water fall under deep forest. The waterfall descends from a height of 25–30 feet and create a roaring sound around the forest. The falls are most beautiful during the monsoon and post-monsoon seasons, when the water level has its peak, and the surrounding forest becomes green.
5. Subarnarekha River : The Subarnarekha River is a river flowing through Ghatshila , it is common believe that occasional presence of gold particles in its sands , so it was named "streak of gold". Its clear waters, surrounded by lush greenery and rocky riverbeds attract tourist again and again. Subarnarekha River travels through Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha before emptying into the Bay of Bengal.
