Gangasagar Tour

Gangasagar

Gangasagar, also known as Sagar Island, holds immense religious significance for Hindus. It is believed to be the spot where King Bhagiratha performed penance to bring the holy river Ganges down from heaven to earth. Every year during Makar Sankranti (mid-January), hundreds of thousands of pilgrims gather here to take a holy dip at the confluence of the Ganges and the sea, believing it to cleanse them of all sins and bestow blessings.

Gangasagar is located approximately 100 kilometers south of Kolkata, the capital city of West Bengal. The journey typically begins with a drive from Kolkata to Kakdwip, followed by a ferry ride to Kachuberia, which is the gateway to Sagar Island. The ferry journey itself is a part of the experience, offering stunning views of the river and surrounding countryside.
