Barbil is a offbeat tourist place for traveller. Barbil is located in the Keonjhar district of state Odisha , it is a small town surrounded by mineral-rich hills of the Eastern Ghats. Barbil is known mining industry , but scenic beauty of hills and several waterfall make Barbil attractive for tourist also. Barbil is rich of Iron Ore,Manganese Ore,Chromite ,Quartz & Quartzite,Limestone ,High-grade hematite is extracted here . Mining company like Tata Steel,JSPL (Jindal Steel & Power Ltd),Sarda Mines,OMC (Odisha Mining Corporation),Rungta Mines do regular mining here.

 
 
Place to Visit in Barbil

Thakurani Hill : Thakurani Hill is about 3km distance from Barbil , it is a short height hill and travelar can have and panoramic views of Barbil town from the top .There is a small temple dedicated to "Thakurani".
Murga Mahadev Waterfall & Temple : Murga Mahadev is about 20 km from Barbil , a small waterfall with Dropping from hill behind. Just beside the waterfall , a Shiva temple is there inside a cave-like rock formation. This is a popular for picnics as well as for spiritual visits . During Shivratri , this place is crowded with devotee and pilgrim. Entry fee for this place is 10/-.
Sanaghagara Waterfall : Sanaghagara Waterfall is about 75km from Barbil .It is one of the most popular waterfall of Keonjhar , Ideal for nature lovers, photography. “Sanaghagara” means "small waterfall" in the local Odia language , height of around 30 meters (100 feet) , formed by the Machha Kandana River.
Badaghagara Waterfall : Badaghagara Waterfall is abount 80 km from Barbil ,surrounded by lush greenery. Badaghagara” means "big waterfall" in Odia , height of 60 meters (nearly 200 feet), one of the taller waterfalls in Odisha .It is also formed by the Machha Kandana River. Best Time to Visit is post-monsoon (October to February) when the water flow is strong.
Meghataburu & Kiriburu Hills : Kiriburu and Meghataburu are two separate mining towns located in the Saranda Forest, straddling the border of Odisha (Meghataburu) and Jharkhand (Kiriburu). The region is wel-known for its lush greenery, misty hills, and sal forests.This is the Asia’s largest Sal forest ,”Saranda” , that means "land of seven hundred hills" in local language. Sunset Point at Meghataburu offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding forests and hills. The sunset from here is the main attraction for the tourist. Kiriburu is built on a hilltop, that allow 360-degree views of the hill , forest mines.

Best Time to Visit:
October–March (Winter) : Best time for sightseeing, scenic beauty. Clear skies ,Chances of rain is low, full of tourist.
June–September (Monsoon): Very lush greenery; waterfalls and rivers are full but road condition is poor.
Sightseeing : No share Taxi or Bus available for sightseeing, you have to book Private Car , charge around Rs:3000/- perday , 2days required to cover sightseeing. Other Place of Interest within Barbil:
